Billy Bob Thornton Wants to Unload in Beverly Hills

SELLER: Billy Bob Thornton
LOCATION: Beverly Hills, CA
PRICE: $9,995,000
SIZE: 11,012 square feet, 9 bedrooms, 8 bathrooms

YOUR MAMAS NOTES: Thanks to a covert communique we received late last night from Our Fairy Godmother in Beverly Hills, we've come to learn that Oscar-winning screenwriter and actor Billy Bob Thornton (Sling Blade, A Simple Plan, The Man Who Wasn't There) hoisted his mansion in the flats of Beverly Hills on the (open) market this week with an asking price of $9,995,000.

Property records reveal Mister Thornton and his then third wife, Academy Award-winning actress Angelina Jolie, purchased the property in August 2000 for $3,750,000 from former Guns 'n Roses guitarist Slash who had purchased the property just four years earlier for $2,100,000. As best as we can tell, around the time Mister Thornton and Miz Jolie put a legal end to their highly publicized and rather bizarre union in May 2003, the deed was signed over to Mister Thornton.

Property records and listing information show the walled, gated and high-hedged
1920s Spanish Hacienda-style mansion sits on a 27,699 square foot corner lot just below Sunset Boulevard and measures 11,012 square feet with a total of 9 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms.

Current, publicly available listing information doesn't have much in the way of photographs—we got our aerial photo from the folks at Pacific Coast News—but does indicate the hulking, U-shaped residence includes a two-story living room with fireplace and beamed ceiling, a "large formal dining room, huge kitchen" and "enormous family room." There's also, as per listing information, a library, a master suite with sitting area, a fitness room/gym, and recording studio—Mister Thornton started in Showbiz as a musician before he became an actor, dontcha know, and once opened for Hank Williams Jr.

The completely landscaped grounds, according to listing information, include circular driveway at the front, additional off-street parking and two-car garage at the rear, covered loggias, fountains, a swimming pool and spa and a lighted paddle tennis court.

Mister Thornton also owns a house in Malibu that's not on the beach—it's on the mountain side of Pacific Coast Highway, actually—that's 2,544 square feet with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and cost him $2,350,000 in April 2007.
